About Wedding Photography Essex

Abbey Weddings have been established for over 35 years. Here's the story of how it all began. 

         It was a hot summers July day, I was standing outside St Peters Church Harold Wood, as an Usher for my sisters wedding waiting for her to arrive. The sun glinted off the vintage Rolls Royce as it gracefully pulled in and everybody rushed to greet her. The door opened and the photographer and video guy started filming and in that moment I knew what I wanted to do. 

        Within a week I had brought my first car, an old brown diesel Mercedes (not quite the vintage Rolls Royce!)  but I had it sprayed white and used it as a taxi in the day time and wedding car at the weekends. I also started using the vintage Rolls Royce from my sisters wedding and became good friends with the owner for the next 20 years before he retired.

        With the help of a bank loan I bought an old blue Rolls Royce Silver Shadow which again I had sprayed white. It helped knowing an affordable painter! . I soon got very busy and a local wedding car company started using me for their surplus bookings enabling the funds for a second Rolls Royce. Every penny was saved and put back into the business. Within a couple of years I had started to own an impressive fleet of wedding cars.

         I soon realised that our bride and grooms wanted more services. There was no internet in those days, so I used to watch wedding photographers and video cameramen at work at the weddings I attended as a driver. I approached the best ones and asked if they would be interested in working for me. I quickly built up a team of top people.

     I had always been interested in video cameras and filming, back then video was in it's infancy and relativity expensive so when a friend offered me his video set up in exchange for his wedding car hire i jumped at the chance.

             We effortlessly expanded into wedding photography, wedding videography and DJs. Our aim was to be the best wedding company in Essex, providing top quality service with affordable prices. 

         Soon wedding venues and shops in Essex and London contacted me to supply their clients as we could supply top quality wedding services all very under one roof at a reasonable price. Since then we have appeared on TV several times including "Don't tell the bride" "Say yes to the dress", shot celebrity weddings, and have often featured in magazines and newspapers.          

What started out from one Mercedes wedding car  and through hard work quickly turned into one of the biggest wedding companies in Essex. My favourite quote " Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will still end up amongst the stars!"
